BallStream specialises in cuesport events, especially for snooker and
billiards for which we can provide sophisticated scoreboard overlays for both
live streams and for embedding into video files distributed on DVD.
BallStream also provides live streaming and live scoring services via our
dedicated servers.
Event Recording
Most cuesport events recorded in Australia are made by BallStream and partners
under agreement for Copyright and broadcasting rights through BallStream media
servers and DVD distribution, however our services are available for hire for
recording your event according to your requirements.
Recorded Media
At each event we use two video recorders. One camera is for recording high
definition and maximum quality for editing, scoreboard overlay and
distribution on DVD. The second camera is used for sending a high quality (as
opposed to web cam) broadcast to a media server for a live stream that can be
viewed on the Internet. From the event we also live score to our servers to
provide a scoreboard while the match is being viewed online.
After the event the high quality recording is edited into frames (games) and
edited to include an intro and current scoreboard during the match. From those
masters we then produce three sets of video files, one for backup, one for DVD
distribution (which may or not be encrypted with restricted viewing via
ArtistScope Media Player), and one of lower quality suitable for delivery via
a web site or streaming server.
Broadcasting and Data Costs
The advantage of streaming video from a media server is that the video will be
buffered to suit the audience's download speed, and that with a media server
it is possible to control who views your video and monitor their usage for pay
per view. A huge disadvantage with providing unprotected downloads from a web
site is that you'll end up with a huge data bill from your provider and no
income from your media because the video links will be spidered by numerous
softwares specifically designed for pirating movies.
Media Distribution
BallStream can control and enforce payment of video streams and also copy
protect videos distributed on DVD. Monies collected on your media can be
monitored enabling you to see a return of the costs of your event or investment.
For further discussion on how this works and how to record the event for live
streaming and/or DVD distribution please use our contact
form to introduce your event and define your requirements.
Self Distribution
To have your event recorded by BallStream for self distribution (not via
BallStream servers) the cost is Aud$2,400* plus accommodation and travelling
expenses... to anywhere in the world.
* Recording and editing costs cover a 7-11 frame snooker final or equivalent
billiards final.
Match segments
Snooker DVDs are comprised of separate files for each frame (game) so that
particular frames can be easily located and replayed for coaching purposes. In
most cases the first video of the sequence (frame one) will include an opening
or introduction for the match, and the last video in sequence will be a
recording of the award presentation after the match.
Copyright and Ownership
Unless otherwise arranged and confirmed by signed agreement, the BallStream
service shall retain the right of Copyright, ownership and distribution of all
video recordings and parts thereof that have been recorded or edited by
BallStream staff, contributors or partners.
